Give yourself a Pat on the back....

Isn't it always the same story ~ Thanksgiving comes and goes in a high fevered rush to get to Christmas. Shopping, parties, photos, cards, family obligations, charities, cooking, did I mention shopping. Then you wake up on Christmas morning and poof......its all over, amidst piles of discarded wrapping paper and strong coffee. A quietness takes over and sweet relief pours in. Finally, you can really sit back (if only for an hour) and appreciate all the hard work you put into the Season. You pulled it off, hot stuff ~ another Holiday under your belt...(literally in my case:) I hope everyone out there had a wonderful Christmas and a few moments to reflect on the True Meaning of the Holiday and to give thanks for all the wonderful joys that we have been given.

On to the Next Holiday.....

I say we should start counting down to Summer ~ How many shopping days till Flip~Flop Season begins? Thats what I want to know.

Happy New Year to all

Silent Night

What is it about a snow storm that really calms the soul? I heard about the impending "storm of the century" and immediately thought " I'm doomed". Bad timing~ Holiday shopping still to be done ~ Open House parties that will have to be missed, on top of regular weekend odds and ends that needed attention. I did get out before the flurries started to fly and was able to check a few things off of my list. Once home, I battened down the hatches and did.......nothing. Who knew bad weather could be so liberating? It finally started falling in earnest, and everything simply slows down. I took some random photos of Holiday decor at home, caught up on a few emails, took some photos of new merchandise for the store, chased Roro around the house, drank waaay too much tea, and listened to the boys argue over video games. Tomorrow I will wake up to sparkly silver snow as far as the eyes can see ~ and it will be awesome!

Scrap Magic and Holiday Glitter

I wish I could make this kind of stuff. Alas, I cannot. And thats why I love Denise Morrison. She is so amazing at putting found objects together and turning them into little bits of heaven. Denise was ever so kind enough to make a few French Bleu Vintage original art pieces for the Holidays. And are they ever gorgeous ~ I love the soft blue and ivory shades she used ~ so serene. What I love about the banners is that they are not just for the Holidays ~ you can love them all season long. You'll have to head on over to the shop to see them all ~ I have a few posted here.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who left suggestions on how to get my lovely 2 year old Roro bean to sleep. I think a few factors came into play concerning this. Not the smallest which is crazy Mama running around for Christmas. They totally pick up on your manias and I think it makes them nervous. So I put everything away and I am trying to lead the less manic Holiday again (please see second post) this time I mean it. I tried once to get the kids to pose for a photo...once. I am now resigned to using the photo of Chesca (our sweet 5 year old white German Shepherd) with the NY Yankees Santa hat on to put in our Holiday cards this year. Not that I'm a huge fan of the Yankees ~ its just a cute photo and easier than getting our kids to pose. What's so wrong about that?? Are the Holidays only to show off our human children ~ I think not!!

Get out there

Its only December 2 and I've already broken my vow of "less is more" for the Holidays. Rowan, my 20 month old, is in daycare for a few hours while I volunteered at my son, Pearsons school. And of course, while there, I was hit up for some more volunteer, donations and assorted other things I should have said "No" to immediately, but didn't. Oh well ~ tomorrow is another day.

Rowan is giving me about 3 hours of sleep per night this month for some reason. Any help out there??? She is terrified of something at night. My husband thinks that some of the Vintage items I bring into the house has "bad juju" attached to it. Who knows - could be. But its mine now - juju be damned!! Anyway, I'm lucky I get anything done at all on three hours sleep. I do feel wicked proud at the fact that I was able to figure out how to attach a new header, etc. for this blog page. Not a bad job I think (can you hear me patting myself on the back). Many thanks to Cute and Cool Blog Stuff (link at top left) for the images.

Not a long speech today ~ there is too much to do really. I did grab some fabulous Flea finds this past weekend and will be posting them at my new Etsy site: Which is acb66. Or at my webstore: http://www.Frenchbleuvintage.com/. I will try and do a sage smudge cleansing ritual with all items before listing them :)))))) I throw that in for my husband, Rons sake. I still have a few of the" Country Living Merry & Bright~ 301 ideas for Celebrating Christmas" books as a free Holiday giveaway. I will honor that deal at either shop. Its not listed anywhere on Etsy though. Please read the details below.

I'm off ~ As Ron always says "Its a new day ~ go learn something".
