New French~Whites @ Frenchbleu

I am SOOO excited about this new line of items I picked up for the store (and of course 1 or 2 for myself). I could hardly wait to show everyone. I had such an awesome week (10 days really) of shopping the second hand shops, estate sales, favorite fleas and finally a few overstock shops where I just hit the jackpot. Of course, you can't even open the door to my stock room anymore, but the Holidays are coming and I really don't think most of this is going to hang around for long.
Check out these French~White kitchen pitchers. I need to hunt down more from this distributor. I was late to the party and only able to scoop up a few choice pieces. I won't have them listed in the shop until Wednesday morning. Even the boxes they come in are awesome!!!! You know I had to rearrange my kitchen as soon as I brought them home. Mr. Vintage has the padded wagon on speed dial these days. It an occupational hazard risk I am quite willing to take.

I also picked up a bunch of some really great vintage items ~ a childrens size pony saddle. Such a unique item, I have never seen one this small. The vendor told me it was for Victorian Goat Racing.....(uh, yeh) Im just going with a pony saddle. Although, I could probably put it on my German Shepherd and let Rowan have at it. Sorry, I just noticed the photo of it wasn't so great ~ its in the shop though.

A few great old pottery cherub planters

This super nice childrens size dress form in the perfect shade of Frenchbleu

Also these elegant oversized down filled French grainsack "The' de Provence" pillows ~ my favorite

I could go on and on ~ but I need to pack. Im off to Sleepy Hollow, New York  for a few days of Halloween festivities with some girls who are not easily scared. Good thing, we'll be in the cemetery at midnight. Lets hope my next White Wednesday post contains a few otherworldly guests.

Have a Happy  Halloween everyone

A quiet Fall afternoon

Let me preface this post by saying that a quiet afternoon is rare. Rarer than rare ~ they practically never happen. So, when the stars align perfectly and the family is out somewhere else (who cares where) it is a treat and a half to say the least.

My favorite thing to do when my big old house is quiet, is hide in the front living room. Its formal in a welcoming way. Rich dark reds, overstuffed camelback sofas and lots of books and mirrors. I use this room about as often as I get a quiet afternoon. Anyway, I make a big pot of Earl Grey tea (Harney's Winter White of course) and settle down with my latest magazine or a fun ghost story. Seriously, I love ghost stories all year round. Good, classic ghost stories, not the cheesy slasher types. I listen to the wind rustle the leaves outside and slowly savor the moment.  This will last about 20 minutes...tops...before the phone inevitably rings. Unless I am smart enough to remember to take it off the hook. Even Calvin & Hobbes are about as happy as 2 cats can get ~ Chesca, my sweet girl has slunk away upstairs to nuzzle under the blankets to enjoy her own quiet time.

A lovely ruffled rose teapot & creamer ~

This teacup set is perfect and simple ~

As long as Im treating myself like a Queen  ~ I should go all the way don't you think?

oops~ Almost forgot ~ there is still time to partake in the FBV Halloween Sale at the store. I just can't get enough of vintage Halloween decorating. Shop link @ sidebar.

Enjoy a perfectly lovely White Wednesday and try and grab some quiet time for yourself ~

Autumn Golds & a SALE

I noticed that lately I have accumulated quite a few pieces of white & gold pottery and china. I never really thought it was my taste or style ~ but apparently I was wrong, cause I kind of keep gravitating towards it.  They really are quite gorgeous, especially this Haviland Limoge covered serving bowl.

These Victorian trivets are pretty special ~
Who doesn't love a nice chamber pot?
This vintage Noritake sugar & creamer is so delicate , they don't make them like this anymore

And this pretty frame has just a touch of gold ~ perfect

Please swing on by Faded Charm & check out all the other wonderful White Wednesday posts  ~

Silver Autumn Treasures

Happy Silver Sunday Everyone ~

Just a few silvery finds I picked up, that look so pretty when paired with the hydrangeas. The color on the flowers is just past its peak now in CT. But I took these photos about 3 weeks ago when it was my favorite shade of cream, pink and green. A few of these pieces have moved on to their new homes and are being very well loved.
luckily my favorite zinc pail is still around

Carmen Miranda called ~

She wants her earrings back.  Thus was the message left by Mr. Vintage to me on a note on our kitchen table. Isn't he witty, I thought. I had just picked up an awesome lot of gorgeous vintage jewelry at an estate sale and really thought these pearl & beaded earrings were the best out of the whole bunch. Apparently, not everyone thought so.  Thats okay, I bought tons of other great stuff ~ not all so....hhmmm..dramatic.  The necklace is so nice and the perfect color for Fall dressing.

Wouldn't this pendant look great on a velvet ribbon?
This cameo set is amazing ~

...and check out these bracelets. Its a good thing I got there early. the nice jewelry is always the first to go at an estate sale.

Remember, October is Breast Cancer awareness month
Hoping to hit a few more sales this weekend ~ 'Tis the Season and I have the bug.
